History of Cafés

The appearance of cafés created a new kind of community space: a place where people not only drank coffee but also conversed, debated, and exchanged news. From the beginnings in Mecca and Cairo, through the Ottoman cities, and all the way to Europe, cafés became natural meeting points of urban life, and gradually grew into one of the fundamental institutions of modern society.
